The Lions Vision Research and Rehabilitation Center is inviting applications for the position of a Sr. Programmer Analyst to support its sponsored research activities. Their primary responsibility is the design and development of AR/VR-based software solutions for head-mounted displays using the Unity Engine. In addition, the position entails responsibility for both hardware and software aspects of the research. On the hardware side, the systems engineer will advise the research team regarding acquisition, deployment, maintenance, and upgrade of computers, head-mounted displays, and peripherals. On the software side, they will take the lead in procuring 3rd party applications; designing VR/AR-based research environments; and developing, documenting, maintaining and upgrading custom designed systems for vision assessment.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Design and develop of virtual reality / augmented reality- based software solutions for head-mounted displays using Unity Game Engine.
  • Oversee both hardware and software aspects of Low Vision research.
  • Advise the research team regarding acquisition, deployment, maintenance, and upgrade of computers, head-mounted displays, and peripherals.
  • Take the lead in procuring third party applications.
  • Design VR/AR-based research environment.
  • Develop, document, maintain, and upgrading custom designed systems for vision assessment.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Three years related experience
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 3 years in gaming or other VR/AR development

Skills:

  • Development Tools: Unity Game Engine, MySQL, AWS.
  • Programming languages: C#, Javascript, JSON, SQL, HTML, Java.
  • OS: Windows, Linux, Mac OS.
  • Version Control: Git, Subversion.
  • 2D and 3D art: Photoshop, Illustrator or equivalent.

Salary & Pay Range

Starting Salary Range: $62,900 - $110,100 Annually (Commensurate with experience)

The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of Johns Hopkins University’s salary range for this position. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, market conditions, education/training and other qualifications.
