Frank Rattay received the Dr. techn. and Dr. science degrees from the Vienna University of Technology, Vienna, Austria, in 1980 and 1995, respectively, and the Dr. med. Science degree from the Vienna University of Medicine, Vienna, Austria, in 2006.,He is Emeritus Professor for “Modeling and Simulation” and “Biophysics” at the Vienna University of Technology, Vienna, Austria. In 1986, he introduced the concept of the activating function, which improved the understanding of electrophysiological phenomena at the micro- and macroscopic scales.,Prof. Rattay is a Founding Member of the International Functional Electrical Stimulation Society and was main organizer and President of the First World Congress on Neuroinformatics in Vienna (2001).
