Prof. Yossi Mandel is a Medical Doctor, Ophthalmologist and Eye Surgeon and holds a PhD in Bio-engineering. His research interests are focused in the field of ophthalmic engineering and sciences with main interest on retinal prosthesis, electrical tissue interface and application to medicine, microfluidics implants and nanotechnology toward improving diagnosis and treatment in ophthalmology.
He recently received an ERC grant, for his novel approach toward restoration of sight with hybrid retinal implant, composed of high-resolution electrode array integrated with neurons.
