Dr. Rathbun's current research interests include: 1) understanding how visual images are processed in the healthy and degenerating mouse retina; 2) understanding how retinal neurons respond to extracellular electrical stimulation; and 3) applying this knowledge to applications in retinal neuroprostheses. His group’s efforts lie at the intersection of extracellular electrophysiology and systems-level computational modeling.
