Dr. Chow is a general and pediatric ophthalmologist and also a specialist in eye misalignments (strabismus) for both children and adults. He has treated and restored vision to many children with laziness of vision in 26 years of practice and has corrected thousands of eye deviations with medical therapy and/or surgery during this period.

Dr. Chow also specializes in the research of treatments for degenerative retinal diseases such as retinitis pigmentosa and has spearheaded multi-university research in this area. He is the inventor of the Artificial Silicon Retina, and the founder of Optobionics, that has returned a level of vision to blinded patients.

Dr. Chow has received honors and awards from NASA, the National Science Foundation, the NIH, and the Tibbets Award at the White House. He was selected as a Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum, a Scientific American 50, and is the recipient of the World Technology Network Award in Health and Medicine. Among the media that have highlighted his work include: ABC World News, Dateline NBC, Nightline, Good Morning America, National Geographic, the Discovery Channel, the History Channel, the BBC, USA Today, Scientific American, Time, Newsweek, People, and Fortune.

Dr. Chow is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the Rush University Medical College and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Association of Pediatrics and Strabismus, and the American Society of Retinal Specialists. In 2010, he was inducted into the prestigious American Ophthalmological Society by his peers. Dr. Chow received his Board Certification with honors from the American Board of Ophthalmology, ranked 1st nationally, and is a reviewer for multiple journals. He is an author of numerous scientific and medical articles and patents.
