Dr. Geoffrey Boynton is Professor of Psychology at the University of Washington, where he uses fMRI and psychophysics to investigate how attention modulates visual processing across cortical areas and how individual differences in cortical anatomy relate to perception.

His work has provided key insights into where and how unattended stimuli are attenuated in the visual hierarchy, and how visual field maps constrain performance on tasks involving motion, contrast, and crowding. A leader in population receptive field modeling, Boynton has also collaborated on projects in bionic vision, applying principles of visual cortical organization to improve visual prosthesis design.

He is the son of renowned color vision scientist Robert Boynton.
