Axorus is a French medical technology company founded in 2019 that developed a subretinal photoacoustic retinal prosthesis in collaboration with researchers at Boston University and the Institut de la Vision. Axorus discontinued its invasive photoacoustic implant program in early 2025 and now focuses exclusively on a non-invasive photoacoustic contact lens (opens in a new window) for dry age-related macular degeneration and retinitis pigmentosa.
